COSI FAN TUTTE

Vignette Productions
19.08.1021.08.10

Come and see our new production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte in the sublime open-air setting of Seillans Village, Provence (7 & 9 August) or the custom made beach-in-a-warehouse of Village Underground in Shoreditch (19 and 21 August).

For this new reading of Mozart’s masterpiece, Andy Staples is setting the action on the edge of the French/Italian Riviera at the beginning of the sexually awakened and morally pubescent 1960’s. The set will be clean-lined and architecturally chic while the costumes and make-up will bring the fashions and modes of this opulent and highly styled era to life.

Let us take you back to a time when the instant Polaroid camera was the iPhone of its day and the mini-skirt was a serious fashion statement. This will be the Così we all know and love, but with a few ‘Vignette’ surprises.

The play around which Mozart weaves some of his most sublime and touching operatic writing in Così fan tutte is filled with intrigue, deception, loss of innocence, romance and ultimately reconciliation. The storytelling is both playful yet honest; frivolous but also deeply moving. Our theatrical and cinematic approach brings a new viewing of this piece.

Graham Ross conducts our fantastic young cast and orchestra in a show that promises to be the highlight of the summer.

If you liked our 20’s Figaro, you’ll love our 60’s Così.
