Gabriel Garzón-Montano’s cut on funk-heavy pop on latest album Jardín brings in the breezy, psychedelic sound rooted in soul that the Brooklyn native has been honing since his first EP. Released on Stones Throw (with Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf now label mates), Jardín moves Gabriel away from the straightforward soul and R&B into new grounds: we’re entering Garzón-Montano territory, and samples for Drake and tour slots with Lenny Kravitz were just the beginning.
