Going Underground is a night that brings together all forms of new local art in one beautiful warehouse space in Shoreditch. Throughout the night there will be theatre performances, exhibitions of new art, burlesque dancing, live bands and local DJs.
The event takes its name from Christopher Morgan’s play which concentrates upon seven internal monologues on the London Underground. This play will be performed twice during the course of the evening (at 8pm and 10pm). The set (a tube carriage) will then remain as an installation art piece that can be explored by the audience during the course of the evening.
We have a variety of artistic talent on display, all related to different interpretations of the theme 'Going Underground', from recently-graduated artists creating installation pieces, guerrilla wallpapering and innovative multi-media projects, to burlesque and cabaret performances and undiscovered bands.
Going Underground
Written by Christopher Morgan
Produced and Directed by Rachel Heyburn
Performances at 8pm and 10pm
A piece of sensorial, multi-media theatre, interacting and addressing the audience through their own phenomenological experiences with the set, situation and characters; manipulating the audience within the space. This production is aimed at anyone who has ever sat on the tube and wondered what other people are thinking, what their story may be and where they might be going.
