NEW DESIGNERS AND BOMBAY SAPPHIRE
As the Dutch winner of the Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition, Catiana Antonio's design 'Inner Beauty' will represent The Netherlands in the international finals of the renowned martini cocktail glass design competition. Inner Beauty was awarded by the Dutch jury for its simplicity and use of colour. Catiana is an industrial design student currently in her third year of studies at HKU (Hoge School voor de Kunsten) in Utrecht.
The overall winner and People's Prize winner be presented by designer Arik Levy on 18 September 2008 in London at an awards event at the Village Underground in Shoreditch. A main prize of £10 000 goes to the lucky winner. Best of luck to Catiana for the big announcement.
For the fifth year running New Designers SELECTION brought together an outstanding group of 50 young designers who were selected from across the New Designers event in July 2008 at the Business Design Centre and from its design directory.
In addition, to showcasing the very best in young design excellence, New Designers and Bombay Sapphire co-located their events to create a key highlight of this year’s London Design Festival. The event was staged in the fabulous Village Underground, situated in one of London’s key creative districts; Shoreditch.
Bombay Sapphire featured the best martini cocktail glass designs by emerging designers from around the world. Finalists from 21 countries competed as part of the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Designer Glass Competition. Thai designer, Amorn Thongsaard was named the £10,000 winner of this year’s global final.
