PAINES PLOUGH

18.04.0820.04.08

‘A true story. Recently, one of the major video games producers called together their senior designers. The bosses were concerned. Their video games, they felt, had become too literary, with too much text on the screen. Time to get back to the basics. After a brain-storming session, the designers boiled down gaming – and its view of the world – right to its very essence : Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat’. Mark Ravenhill 2008

Paines Plough is joining forces with the Gate Theatre, the National Theatre, Out of Joint and the Royal Court to present Mark Ravenhill’s SHOOT/GET TREASURE/REPEAT, an epic cycle of plays exploring the personal and political effect of war on modern life. The plays began life at last year’s Edinburgh Festival as Ravenhill for Breakfast produced by Paines Plough and form a collage of very different scenes, with each taking its title from classic works.
Throughout April, the plays will be presented in various venues across London, from Sloane Square and the South Bank to a restored Victorian warehouse in Shoreditch.

Paines Plough will capture the spirit of Ravenhill’s exquisite mini-masterpieces in the back streets of Shoreditch at Village Underground. Within the walls of an atmospheric this restored Victorian warehouse, Roxana Silbert will direct an extraordinary ensemble of actors in promenade style, offering a cultural catalyst for your East End weekend.
