THE SO FEUCKING FRENCH ART FAIR

15.10.0819.10.08

Created by two artists, Michel Castaignet and Christophe Avella-Bagur, the So Feucking French art fair welcomes until next Sunday those who wants to discover the diversity and the boldness of 21st century French painting.

In the former burnt-out Victorian warehouse building of the arty East End of London, Nadir Tazdaït and Pascale Langrand conceived a very dynamic scenography, like the artists themselves. They explain: " For a long time scenographs withdraw themselves from the artworks. With SoFF (The So Feucking French Art Fair), we have a different challenge: we must show that French painting hasn’t lost its liveliness. Of course there is the choice of the paintings and the curating part, but in the case of SoFF they added a scenography that is not static or classical in order to challenge preconceived ideas about painting. We are very far from the White Box dear to Moma director William Rubin…”

The 19 artists waving the flag are: Christophe Avella Bagur (Galerie Jean-Luc et Takako Richard /Paris), Michel Castaignet (Galerie Nivet-Carzon / Paris), Raynald Driez (Galerie Déborah Zafman / Paris), Yves Gobart (Galerie Hug / Paris), Régis Gonzalez (Galerie Métropolis / Paris et Lyon), Cristine Guinamand (Galerie Trafic / Paris), Hervé Heuzé (Galerie Jean-Luc et Takako Richard / Paris), Hervé Ic (Galerie Defrost / Paris), Iris Levasseur (Galerie Iragui, Paris/Moscou), Gilles Marrey (à titre personnel), Gilles Miquelis (Galerie Norbert Pastor / Nice), Clément Montolio (Galerie Françoise Besson / Lyon), Sophie Pigeron (Galerie Defrost / Paris), Pascal Pillard (Galerie Déborah Zafman / Paris), Wilfried Prager (Galerie Geneviève Mathieu), Jules Rames (à titre personnel), Franck Rezzak (Galerie du Jour Agnès B / Paris), Axel Sanson (Galerie Françoise Besson / Lyon), Sha Zijian (Galerie Nivet-Carzon / Paris).
