Atlanta R&B singer-songwriter Berhana heads to Village Underground tonight as part of his HAN tour. We caught up with him for a quickfire Q&A ahead of his performance.
What is your proudest achievement?
Probably being able to take my mom back to Ethiopia this past winter. I had never been and she hadn’t been back since she was 18. Seeing the country through her eyes is something I won’t forget.
What’s your favourite part about making music?
Whenever I finish writing a section of a song that I’m excited about.
Best recent live gig / DJ set you’ve been to?
DJ Moma caught a pretty crazy set in Addis this past January.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I have a few projects in the works. I’m really excited to get back home and start seeing them through.
Outside of making music what other creative outlets do you have?
I try to write as much as possible. Whether it’s music or through a different medium. I think it’s important to keep exercising that muscle.
Last tickets for Berhana’s show with us at VU on 24th February (tonight) can be found here.
