A simmering performance to celebrate the release of her debut album Highly Flammable

A little late to her own launch party, Nadia Rose promised to make up for it and she didn’t disappoint. Rose sounded sheepish between songs but had a relaxed lyrical confidence when sitting back on her tracks. As Adidass’d dancers synchronised around her, her demeanour is more reminiscent of Missy Elliot than the masculine posturing of her cousin Stormzy.

Her confidence also picks up when she invites some of her extended ‘skwod’ on stage, including MC Prynce Mini and with Lethal Bizzle and JME turning out their own tracks. It reminded us of the time that Skepta, Drake and  BBK turned up to lend props to Section Boyz. As Rose joins in on Man Don’t Care it’s clear that she cares passionately about the grime fam’ but as she delivers the excellent Skwod she proves that she can stand alone.
